  1. Great photo! My father (Milo Monroe) was the breeder or bred Branch County (well….. really, Branch County’s original name was “Traffic Sub”) out of Traffic Bridge & Faid Fleet. Milo Monroe trained Traffic Sub as a ‘racer’ out of Radium, Minnesota. Traffic Sub got a few starts up at Assiniboia Downs (Winnipeg, Manitoba) but never panned out as a ‘racer’ so he sold him to Bill Teske. I still have the jockey silks that were worn when Traffic Sub took to the track in Winnipeg back in the early 1970’s. What a great story!! Traffic Sub/Branch County couldn’t run, but it sure could do other things…..like win a Silver Medal in the 1976 Montreal Olympics!!!
